100 Days of Hacking

I’ve been away from pen testing specifically since about the first of the year. As much as I abhorred the fact of having to take a hiatus, I must admit that taking that long of the break, ironically, had its benefit. Namely, coming back to the craft I was immediately made aware of the difference between how much I’ve learned through experience vs. how much I’ve learned through retention. That being so, during struggling to come up with something to write about, I’ve decided to take upon the infamous 100 Days “Of X” path.

My 100 Days of, of course, will be hacking. What I’m aiming to achieve out of this is a habit. There’s talents that we all possess, strengths within us that we allow to stay dormant because we don’t rely on or exercise them enough. So as a writer and hacker, two skills that both are “action” verbs, I’ve reasoned that by hacking every day for 100 days will effectively provide a lot for me to write about.

I’m aware that these 100 Day paths have become a dime a dozen. I’ve been reluctant to take one up and especially reluctant to write about it for the same reason I haven’t published a THM or HTB write up. It’s not that I haven’t hacked for 100 days nor completed challenges to provide material to write about. It’s that these things eerily remind me of an industry that I transitioned from. Everyone around me in Hip-Hop were all doing and saying the same thing it seemed.

Although what I write may contain screenshots, maybe even some video, it won’t be littered with technical jargon. In that respect, if you get curious to pop in one of these days expecting to be dazzled by some high fancy hacking technique or tip, you may be highly disappointed. One thing you can count on moving forward is consistency. Execution will be in the spirit of Grey Hat Developer.

However, there will be specific material that I’ll engage with for the 100 days. Apart from the first one on the list, there isn’t a priority here:
